Ipevo is a technology company that designs products for education.  They believe that every child deserves a technology-rich education, and that hardworking educators deserve to be empowered with IPEVO's newest and best classroom tools. That's how IPEVO's Wishpool came about. Every day, we're directly working with teachers and their supporters to find ways to improve the education experience — often at no cost.

By going to their website ( http://www.ipevo.com/wishpool ), you can create an account and make a wish for the technology item they are giving away for that month.  I created an account and within a week my wish was granted.  I now have a document camera for the Art room.  It is wonderful!  I can use it to do demonstrations, record demonstration for a substitute, and so much more.

And did I mention it was free!

Crayon Carvings by Diem Chau

Diem Chau immigrated with her family from Vietnam in the mid-1980's  She studied art the Cornish College of the Arts and now exhibits her artwork across the nation.  When I came across her work when reading Artsy Forager's blog I new I needed to share it.  In a past series, Diem created sculptures by carving crayons.  It is one supply we all have access to so how do you think your students would respond to a challenge to create a carving from a crayon?  I know it would be painstaking, but it would be fun to see.

Found idea.

I found this idea online the other day.  The teacher had it as one of her lessons, but I made it up as a sign in my room to remind students the order of colors in the rainbow.

Gotta Love A Good Blog

Over the last year, I have started following a lot of art teacher blogs.  It reminds me of our conferences; lessons are shared, classroom management is discussed, and every other possible topic that an art teacher might have an opinion on is there too.  In a small way, there is connection with other teachers like me that I can gain ideas and inspiration from.  I have found great lesson ideas from blogs as well as organizational and classroom mangement tips there, too.  To kick off the D2 Blog, I thought I would share some of the great ideas I have come across in the Art Ed. world of blogs.

Mrs. Knight's Smartest Artists shared this amazing video!

Deep Space Sparkle always has interesting lessons for elementary art.  This is one I have been looking at for new clay project ideas to do with my students.  Her clay projects are simple in technique, but can be decorated creatively.

Artsy Forager is not a art teacher blog, but features new artists.  It is a really fun way to learn about new artists.  Boxed Donuts by Peter Anton is a new favorite of mine.

Do you follow or read any good art teacher or artist blogs?  If so, post the link in our comments box!
